Description
For novels above 75,000 words
Developmental edits are an in-depth review of your manuscript to identify plot holes, grammatical and stylistic mistakes, out-of-character actions, out-of-place settings, or general questions; like “is Chapter 7 suppose to make sense? Type errors. This is not a one-and-done edit. This is a multiple-round edit with your editor. You and your editor will spend time going back and forth on your manuscript to make it shine. This may take several emails. Once you’ve worked it all out and you, the author, are satisfied with the story, it will need a copy edit to make sure T’s got crossed and all the i’s were dotted. This is not looking at formatting. Just edits. There are a couple of additional steps to follow before clicking Publish. Refer to the main page for more information on that.
