That’s right. We will work with you from IDEA to PUBLISH. We will guide you through the entire process as you prepare your book for publication. This is an intense process. We will work one-on-one with you to answer any questions you have during the process, as well as why your editor chose to correct something or made the suggestions they did. We will be working with you on your story on an as-needed and as-agreed-upon basis. (This is determined between you and your editor.) We will need your story in manuscript form, either in a Word document or a Google document, to get started. We can then begin the developmental editing process. This is when the rubber meets the road, but it’s a slow roll. Your editor will look through it once and make suggestions for the overall story. This thing is gonna look like your 4th-grade teacher fell in love with her red pen. You’ll get it back, take a deep breath, and dig in. This is where the real work of storytelling begins. When you’ve corrected and added and subtracted things, your editor will look at it again. (This process will take multiple rounds and all depends on you and your editor.) These first steps are called developmental edits. You are developing the story. You might take out a chapter or add one. You might drop a character or add one, or change things up and make the two main characters meet up a little sooner. Whatever your story needs to be a great one. Then you can move to the copy editing phase. A second editor will do this after you and your editor have decided you can’t make this story any better. This ensures a fresh set of eyes catches mistakes. They will send it back to you for what will hopefully be a final time. Once you finish and think you have dotted all your i’s and crossed all your T’s, your original editor will conduct a proofread to ensure the story came out as intended by the two of you. Once she/he is done, they will send it to you for 1 final time. Once you sign off on that, it will be formatted into a PDF, eBook, and MOBI file, allowing you to upload and publish it wherever you choose. This whole process will take multiple editors and multiple rounds of work on your manuscript. More detailed instructions will follow once payment is made.
